Beef Shin Potjie Recipe

Enjoy a lazy Sunday with this delicious Beef Shin Potjie Recipe.
Ingredients for your Beef Shin Potjie Recipe:
30ml oil
1 kg Beef Shin (with bones in)
1 Cup finely diced carrots
1 Cup finely diced celery
1 Cup finely diced onion
10 Baby potatoes (or 5 medium potatoes cut into chunks)
6 Carrots cut into chunks
125g Button mushrooms
750ml Veg / Beef Stock
1 Tbsp Tomato concentrate
1 Cup red wine
20ml Worcestershire Sauce
2 Bay leaves
3 Sprigs Rosemary
small bunch of Fresh Parsely
Salt & Pepper
Beef Shin Potjie Recipe – Method
Pack one layer of briquettes onto the coal grid inside your PotjieKing™ and place a couple fire lighters in the bottom section and get that going. Once the briquettes have stopped smoking, place your Potjie pot onto the PotjieKing™ to heat up.
- Pour the oil into the potjie pot to heat up.
- Season the beef shin lightly with salt and pepper and brown in a heated no 3 pot.
- Add the finely chopped carrots, onion & celery and fry for 10 minutes to release flavours.
- Pour the stock, wine, Worcestershire sauce, tomato concentrate, red wine, salt, pepper and herbs into the pot.
- Cook for +- 1 and 1/2 hours
- Add the potatoes, carrots and whole mushrooms
- Cook for another 1 and 1/2 hours (or until the potatoes are cooked through)
- Serve with Rice
